The other day we received mail from our church. They are putting a 1.7 million addition on the church. They're looking for donations. So far they've raised $500,000. A local trucking company has already donated $300,000 and will get the meeting hall named after them. For $50,000 you can have the courtyard named after you. Another church in town bought the old public school and will spend who knows how much to convert. A new church is being built this year as well. Over the last few years 2 other church's have done extensive repairs. I think there are 6 different religions practicing in town. It amazes me that all this money is being spent on the looks of the buildings yet we still have hungry kids walking around. There is also a new arena being built in town. 7 million dollars of tax payers money and donations. The thing that gets me is that my kids won't be able to play hockey there due to cost. For the 2 of them to play hockey it would cost us $1000. That doesn't include equipment and tournaments.

I meant to respond earlier. I know what you mean. Religion- I was brought up Catholic and it didn't stick. I see exactly what you just typed. There are children/families in this country homeless and all the Churches all the Good Books...Doesn't mean a thing. Hope I don't come across as really anti
